Hi Dave
There are mods on the Internet for both of those issues. Problem was, No DC on the contacts to keep them clean. Mods involve placing resistors and or chokes around the switch and relays involved. Do a search - if you can't find them let me know . I just did the one for the processor switch a few weeks back.

Subject: [ICOM] Pushbuttons for an old IC-740
Hello,
I have an old IC-740 that works well but not worth taking the time to sell. Works well but I have two push buttons that are bad or going bad. The one for the processor will not allow power out unless I push it a couple of times for both CW or SSB to transmit full power. The pre selector push button does not seem to work on or off. I tried cleaning them so assume I need new push buttons.
Anyone have the push buttons or a source for them?
