My  ICOM 706 MK IIG was working great and then became intermittent requiring removing and reattaching the front panel to get to power up. When working before becoming intermittent it was receiving Great and pumping out 100 Watts

Since I had experienced failure to power up on another radio identical in my RV I decided to determine if it has the trace open on the PLL board which seems to be a common 706 MKIIG problem. My other ICOM is over 200 miles away in the RV.

I opened it up and checked the suspect trace with fluke VOM and a magnifying glass and found the suspect trace on the PLL board to be in tact. I cleaned the trace so the ohmmeter would make contact and checked the continuity on the trace.

Now I need to put something non corrosive on the trace to insulate and protect it, Any suggestions about a non corrosive liquid to put on the cleaned trace???

Next and NOW, I suspect the connector between the detachable  front panel and the the main chassis of the radio. Have any of you had problems with the connector between the front panel and main chassis ?????

Any suggestions about the source of the problem ? Don't suggest cleaning the connector because I have cleaned the two halves of the connector several times with DeOXIT and the connector pins are shiny and clean.

Your suggestions and input based on your knowledge and experience with the radio will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and 73, John, K5PGW
