The only thing I can think of that would shut down the 706 is to short the 8
volt connection on the microphone connector. Check your jumper settings
carefully to be sure you are properly configured. Check to make sure that
the settings for the com port match the settings for the 1275 serial port.
Check to make sure you don't have pins 2 and 3 reversed in the serial cable
at one end or the other.

Subject: [ICOM] SSTV using MFJ-1275 with Icom 706 MarkIIG

Our ARC has begun a weekly SSTV Net on the club's two-meter repeater. I
wanted to get involved, too, so I took the MFJ-1275 Interface I've had
sitting on the shelf for several years and tried to get it operational.
I downloaded MMSSTV and configured it as instructed, but I cannot get it to
work with my Icom-706 MarkIIG.

Since my PC has no serial port, i purchased a DB-9 (RS-232) to USB convertor
cable. I installed the software and then updated it. The MMSSTV app says it
sees COM Port 3, but still nada.

I am wondering if the jumper configuration inside the MFJ-1275 might be the
problem. The setting in the manual doesn't work. I found some other
alternate settings on some of online forums, but all they did was
immediately shut down the 706.

Any advice, jumper settings, or any other info would be greatly appreciated.
