Ok follow these instructions, you do know it solders in I suspect.
The board flips over towards the front of the radio when you are done
with the instructions below.
Looking at the bottom board remove all the screws that hold it into the
radio.
Look over the cables closely, take a number of good resolution photos or
make a drawing you understand as you remove the cables...NOT all need be
removed.
Now gently pick up on the end of the board nearest the front panel about
1/4 to 1/2 inch and start gently " walking" the board side to side over
the front chassis lip. LOOK for any cables getting tight and disconnect
those. Any multi pin cables jot down one ends wire color as some you can
install backwards.
You need to move the board towards the front enough to Clear the rear
panel connectors from the rear panel and rear chassis lip. Again remove
only the cables that are getting tight impeding you doing that and
DOCUMENT their placement. None need be unsoldered either.
Once you feel you have the clearance try flipping the circuit board
towards the radio front, again paying attention to any tight cables or
those in the way of doing that. The circuit board WILL NOT lay flat once
it is flipped but it will be flat enough for you to solder in the FL-32A
filter. Make sure to cut the excess leads off when you are done soldering.
Reverse the procedure to reassemble the radio, starting with getting the
board flipped back over and the rear panel connectors back through the
rear panel, again by lifting on the now front of the main board. Get the
board in place, making sure you reinstalled any cables that you might
not be able to once the board is secured.
Look at you photo or drawing and reconnect the cables you removed. Be
careful with the multi pin cables as it is easy to install them one pin
off at times. Make sure any cables you removed are reinstalled and the
circuit board screws are tight. Replace the radio covers and you should
be good to go. I seem to remember a switch under the trap door on the
radio face to enable the filter which should only work when in CW mode.
Hope this gets you through the install, takes about 30 minutes on the
first one. Take your time.
