[ICOM] Older Icoms question

No reason you could not drag and solder a speaker wire to the center 
pin. It is a nice feature to have.
Remember though the IC-720 /A requires quite a bit more mic input than 
the newer Icoms do. They used the SM-8 set to HI level, SM-5 or HM7 hand 
mic. There are some other Icom mics from that vintage, but the newer 
electret mics will not drive the radio properly.
