Hi
I'm just in the process of integrating the new DDS VFO in to an old IC211E
I can use the existing tuning encoder, with a slight mod.
BUT for RIT on my system it needs a rotary shaft encoder 32 or 64 /revolution
here's a wee problem
removing the RIT pot from the front panel the hole is 6.3mm , 1/4"
the cut out for a standard encoder is larger as it has a 1/4" shaft,
do any of the modern Icom rigs use rotary shaft encoders that will fit thru the 1/4" panel hole ?
ie bolt thru the existing panel hole

If not its a very awkward job on the drill press
