Subject: [ICOM] IC-746Pro Audio/Receiver Cut Out Issue
Hello All
Our club's 746Pro is having an issue. The following was written by one of
our members:
"I had problems with the Icom-746PRO again this past weekend during the WAE
RTTY contest. The radio and station worked flawlessly for a couple of
hours and then the audio suddenly started dropping out (as described at the
last meeting).
I checked all radio settings and disabled anything (i.e. NB, squelch, etc)
that could potentially cause the receive to cut/drop out. Nothing made a
difference.
I made a couple of video recordings which I posted on the club's website
<http://www.qsl.net/w3zgd/>. Click on the "Links" tab (bottom of the left
panel) and scroll to the bottom of the page. There are two recordings, 9Mb
and 14Mb, which will likely take a couple minutes to download to your
computer. You probably only need to download one of the files to get a
idea of what is going on.
Both videos begin with no sound after the radio cut out while monitoring a
S9+ signal from Europe. In each recording, I pressed the PTT
button on/off to switch the radio from RX to TX and back which seems to
consistently bring the receive back -- sometimes for a few seconds (as in
these recordings) and other times for a few minutes. While the audio
level in the video is not great, you can see the strong signal strength on
the meter which lasts for a couple of seconds and then fades out. The
fade out is not from the station stopping their transmission -- it's simply
the radio receive fading to zero on its own."
Comments welcome
