Perhaps he wasn't impressed as it's what he's using to compare it with.
He has a number of top end rigs including SDRs from various manufactures.

He was not impressed as it did not compare well with his other rigs. He
did say, it was a very good rig for the price and compares favorably
with older rigs and other rigs in the $1,500 range.

At roughly $1,500 it is one of the lower priced rigs except for the Icom
and Yaesu mobile rigs.

The 756 Pro (I have one too) that I seldom use, is several generations
old as far as the technology goes. The 761 and 745s are even older.. I
had those too.
6-meter band openings.<sigh> I have Australia, New Zealand, S America,
Europe, and Africa on six (all not only on the same day, but within a
couple of hours with that old 756 Pro, in my log book I worked one guy
in Central America who was testing a rig on the bench with just a wire
stuck into the coax connector. OTOH I had a 7L C3i Yagi at 115 feet.
Several times the band was open world wide.

I parted with my S line and KWM2 that I used in the 1970s.long ago.
Actually, I wish I had the S-line and KWM2 back although they are not
nearly as nice to operate. They had cleaner signals than most, if not
all, of today's top end solid state rigs.

My stations from the 1970s with a lot of dated rigs:

http://www.rogerhalstead.com/ham_files/boat3.htm
http://www.rogerhalstead.com/ham_files/boat1.htm including the KWS1/75A4.

Today's better (top end rigs) are now only beginning to approach the IM
figures of the S-line.

I really don't miss those rigs, but I'd like the Collins just for
nostalgia's sake.
I definitely don't miss those short lived vacuum tubes, or the horrible
prices of 12AT7s on today's market. Back then, I was paying $305 for
new Eimac 8877s. IIRC 6146s were around $5. New 6L6s were less than
that. I have a guitar amp that uses 6, 6L6s. The tubes are worth more
than what the amp cost new. I can't justify fixing it.
