Yep, the nice thing about the ESR testers is that:
- you don't have to remove the component
- the 'value' of the cap is shown
- the ESR is shown
You will find some old caps will be WAY out of spec. Electrolytic caps that are not used on a regular basis, will die early. That's why the older caps on the 'shelf' will usually be NFG. Newer 105 C rated caps will last almost forever, due to sealing / construction.
