[ICOM] IC-4KL PSU Retrofit

The switch-mode PSU in the IC-4KL is essentially non-repairable. When it
fails, the best solution is radical surgery. The existing REG UNIT should be
removed and discarded, and a Meanwell RSP-3000-48 (48V, 3kW) fitted as a
replacement. The new PSU will give many years of trouble-free service. The
RSP-3000-48 is available from Mouser and other electronics supply houses for
approx. $525.

 

My good friend Matt Erickson KK5DR has done this retrofit successfully on at
least two IC-4KL's, including his own which is in daily use. There is a
