MIke: The power connector pins ARE NOT MOLEX. they look like molex, but they are from a compamy called "Tamanya" and they have a higher current rating. Most of the after market DC cords and connectors are not Tamaya pins, thus  the problem. I  remember reading an article that said the Tamaya pins could be found in some hobby shops.

Good luck,

Subject: [ICOM] On/Off Intermittent

Hello,

My IC746 started having an intermittent on/off problem.   The problem shows
up after the 746 has been operating for several hours in a RTTY or CW
contest.  (May have same issue in SSB contest, but haven't recently been in
a SSB contest.)  The 746 shuts down for a second when transmitting as
between characters in CW.  When the interruption occurs in RTTY
transmission, transmission has to be manually stopped to let the radio
return to operation.  Operation will resume for a random length of time
before a repeat shut down.  The time between shut downs decreases the
longer the radio is operated (transmit).  Has anyone had a similar problem?

What I have done so far to try to fix the 746 is to substituted another
power supply, but have same intermittent on/off problem.  The power
receptacle was removed and reinstalled, yet the on/off problem remained.

This afternoon the power receptacle was inspected and noticed a discoloring
on the outside of the power receptacle's plastic.   The receptacle's female
pins next to the discolored plastic seemed to have lost some of there
spring.

Would like to replace the receptacle's female pins to make sure the
receptacle's pins are not the problem, .  However, not sure what size.
Looks like the 0.093" pins (Molex).  Is that correct?

Also, some time ago, the type of receptacle was identified on the Icom
Reflector.  Unfortunately, couldn't find it when I searched.  Anyone
remember what the "Molex?" part number is?
