Did you check the voltage at the power plug on the inside of the Rig During
transmit. Sometimes these loosen up and heat helps to expand the Females on
the Rig.

Subject: [ICOM] More on my Pro3 pwr issue

OK, need some ideas here, gang. Would like to cover all bases before losing
my rig for a few weeks at the shop.

My P3 has an intermittent power issue, here is what it does.

When turned on, shows 90-100 watts, key down, all bands, into a dummy load,
and antennas. I hear the fan kick on during xmit. After about 30 seconds of
cw, or SSB, the power drops to the following:

160m 8w
80m 40w
40m 30w
20-15-10m 8w

If I leave the rig turned on, it will recover to full 100w in about an hour.
If I turn it off, it will recover in about 15 min. Which almost leads me to
think its a poor solder joint, or something other than a failed PA.

Am I right thinking this???

I did switch out power cords, eliminating the fuse issue. My 50a PS is
working fine, no drop in current or voltage at any time. All connections are
tight.

I have googled the heck out of this. No joy...

Any thoughts? Having a hard time thinking its a bad PA. I guess it can be,
but, conventional thinking says it either works, or not.
