[ICOM] IC-718 and CT-17 - follow up

So I had queried the group about using a USB to serial adapter to connect a CT-17 to an IC-718. No matter what I did HRD was never able to find the radio. I read in a forum about a ham who bought a Radio Shack scanner cable that worked like a charm. Unfortunately, the model number was discontinued. Thinking I was out of luck I Googled a newer scanner cable and found another forum in which a ham claimed the newer scanner cable worked like a charm. So I got frisky and bought the scanner cable, plugged it into the IC-718, and the computer, fired up HRD and wala, IC-718 is now controlled with HRD.

For anyone's information ... I purchased two serial adapters, one with a Prolific chip, the other with an FTDI chip. Neither worked. The scanner cable purchased from Radio Shack has an FTDI chip and works like a charm.
