Ken,
Carefully examine the connection of the fused power cable to the
radio power receptacle for any deformed or poor contact. The spring
tensioning on the individual terminals may be required to improve the
connections. A poor connection can result in heating, which can
further aggravate the intermittent operation. Also, check the
connection on the other end of the power cable to the DC source. It
seems like the OT's radio works but just has some intermittent
problems. The radio draws significant current on TX, which will
stress low voltage DC connections. Check those connections first
prior to more invasive inspection or testing.
