[ICOM] IC756 with InRad filter problem

Hi Phil,
As long as some signals are still heard, most probably it is not a
mechanical damage but rather just a wrong or a "special" set up the new
owner is not aware of.
The manual is available at
http://www.icomcanada.com/pdf_manual/amateur/ic-756.pdf .
You may propose the new buyer to read the manual, especially in the area
describing installation and setting up of filters, in order to understand
what happens in the "fooling around" process and how to tweak it. Just to
refresh your memory, "fooling the rig around" meant, install and a narrow CW
filter but set it up as a wider SSB or RTTY one. I also did that and it
worked just fine for me for AFSK with 2 x 250 Hz CW filters set up as SSB
ones. Actually I was using Icom filters but it does not really matter of
there is an Inrad one or whatever.
The new guy may now make his own filters' arrangements. It is quite well
documented and easily handled though the rig's menu. There is no need to
move the filters around, the menu does it all.

Subject: [ICOM] IC756 with InRad filter problem
Hi all,
I had an IC756, to which I installed two InRad filters. I believe they were
the 111 and 116. I know one plugged straight in, while the other needed to
be wired in.
I used them for RTTY, after doing something in the menu system to fool the
IC756 that it had native Icom filters fitted.
Whilst I had the radio, they worked well for me.
Now, here is the issue.....
I sold the radio on, and had to ship it from Guernsey to Scotland. Somewhere
along the line, something has happened, as the new owner tells me that he
can hear nothing on CW when the filters are engaged, and that the bandwidth
on RTTY is very poor, with attenuated signals too.
Can anyone tell me what I would have set in the menu, and what may have gone
wrong in the journey?
I haven't used the 756 for ages, and now the radio and manual have gone,
along with the memory of what I did and how.
