[ICOM] IC-9100/7410 accessory audio

I've just acquired a used IC-9100 (the HF guts of which are identical
those of the 7410). The manual says that the audio at the accessory
socket (pin 12) is "AF detector ouput. Fixed level, regardless of the
[AF] control position."

However, when I attached my MixW RigExpert for PSK31 I found that the
level does, indeed, vary with adjustment of the audio gain control,
and in fact, cuts out completely if I plug in headphones. It appears
to be downstream of the main speaker and not a direct connection to
the AF detector.

I don't see anything in the menus that suggests this can be changed,
but perhaps I'm missing something. I wonder if anyone else has
observed the same issue and if there is any fix or work-around.
