Hi John,

Agreed, the simplified RTTY modem can be useful for operating situations
where transmission of stored messages is sufficient.

On the IC-7200 NB: To quote my IC-7200 test report, "I found the DSP NB
somewhat more effective than the IC-756Pro III's analog NB. It will strongly
attenuate fast-rising noise pulses, but is somewhat less effective on
power-line hash. NB works best in conjunction with NR." Thus, I would rate
the 7100 NB higher than that in the 7200.

On the IC-7200 NB: From my evaluation trip report: "I found the IC-7000 NB
somewhat less effective than that of the IC-756Pro III. The 75% setting will
attenuate repetitive power-line noise fairly well. NB works best in
conjunction with NR." The 7100 NB wins this round too.

Going on experience with my dumfone since I received it from the local
carrier 3 years ago, I have never personally encountered a touch-screen
failure.

Hi Adam,

Thanks for the interesting review. It is nice to see that the 7100 borrowed

from the PRO3 and such in allowing you to send simple RTTY messages, would
be good for RTTY DXing or S and P contesting without having to use a
computer.

In terms of the NB you say it compares to the 7600 and 7700. How do the NBs

in the 7000 and 7200 compare to the one in the 7100, or to the 7600 and
7700.

What do you think about the durability of the touch screen? I haven't used
enough touch screen devices to know how they last? Is there any possibility

for failure in it after a few years use?
