[ICOM] Icom 756 and ESD

John,
   Yes, the 756 original, 2, and 3.  I had a 756Pro die that way.  I
allways disconnect things when not on the air, or when storms get
within 5-10 miles.  The 756Pro wokred one time fine.  Came back the
next day, zero out.   Icom service told me that is a known problem.
An lightening strike up to 1.5 miles away can damage the drivers, and
they will fail soon afterward.   My radio was  never connected when
there was lightening anywhere close.   Talked to maybe a dozen other
756Pro users who had experienced the same problem.   Also heard from a
756 user with the same problem.  I'd never heard of it, till it happen
to me.  Asked around, found out it was all too common.  Thing that
baffled me a little is how the ESD got through the finals without
damaging them, to get at the drivers.  Doesn't quite make sense.
