[ICOM] Internal PS question

That was back in the 80s, John and I recall that I got the rig spankin' new
with all the bells and whistles plus an AT-500 that I'm still using. Don't
recall if the rig had a built-in PS-30 or 35 but I am using the P/S today
in the IC-761 I got in 1988 and it still works just fine. The one that
failed went with the 745 when it was sold. As I recall the 751 was a
marginal step up from the 740/745 but their receivers were very similar.
The only "complaint" I had with the 745 was its physical size. I really
disliked the small knobs and the real estate on the front panel. It was a
small city lot compared to the 761 which has about a third of an acre. But
there was nothing I couldn't hear with it...same as the 761 in that
respect.

That is an interesting observation. I have never used a 745 nor known
anyone who owned one. You don't see them for sale very often, but for what
they are usually asking for them you could get a 751A for around the same
amount.
The 751A would come with the keyer and 500hz CW filter as standard, both
extra costs for the 745
