Hi JohnThat's a good point, but here's what I'm thinking: if you have a small table, with a radio like this or an IC7k, you don't need to clutter the table with the body of the radio. I might have very little space on the table top, but I have cubic acre of volume of unused space on the bottom of the table top. I could mount two radios there and use less table space for these two controllers than ONE of my IC-756 PRO III. Plus, I can move the controllers right next to my keyboard and not have to reach over top the keyboard to make adjustments. There will always be a market for contiguous radios like you prefer, but don't dismiss the great utility of separate controllers. 73, Kellyve4xt
