It is easier to pick up and carry portable when it is in 1 piece instead of 
2.  Also, when the faceplate is attached,you don't have to worry about the 
separation cable picking up RF.  I kind of like my station as compact as 
possible, and 1 box suits me better than 2.  I know I am weird compared to 
most hams.
