I'm glad I started this discussion....
On my main table, I have a 761, the PRO (1), a 745, a 271, and a 471.
Only the PRO died after the nearby hit. Yep, I lost a lot of other things, but when you run mast-mounted preamps for VHF and UHF, 'stuff; happens. I always keep spares and rotate them as needed. Especially since I'm close to the lightning capitol of the USA!! ha ha My Astron RS-35A has been taken out a couple of times, IN SPITE of every kind of MOV, etc I could put in it.
If you wanna play, you gotta pay...

All my Drakes (17), even my SPR-4, were unaffected...........natch.

 little older - but it has not failed me yet.  The last scare turned out to

Icom makes some of the best receivers but their protection for finals,
rivers, predrivers is not very hearty. I also have an early version 746pro
nd it had to be fixed for the same problem. There has been a debate as to
hether ESD causes the problems. Icom says it is. Mine died after a cold
tart-up after not being connected to power and antennas. I wish they were
uilt like the 751A.
