I forgot to mention...my 706MKIIG was like that right out of the box as well.Turns out that the squelch knob in the default mode is actually a RF gain knob,which attenuated the signal. I had to get into the menu and change it from RF gain to Squelch.Maybe it's the same thing with the 7000?
