On the road, the combination of the plastic tubing on the U-Bolts and the
rubber was more than sufficient to keep everything from slipping. I used
that setup for five years without a problem, but you can also put a clamp
from the mount to the handlebar stem for more stability. As for vibration,
any mobile radio should be able to handle that and I never worried about
that issue. The only issue I was concerned about was moisture/rain. One year
I actually built a box with 1/4 inch plastic panes to put the radio in.
