[ICOM] ham radio industry

Hi Gary,

Both Icom factories are in the city of Wakayama, 100 km SW of Osaka. The
1995 Kobe earthquake caused some damage in Osaka. The Icom employees who
lost their lives had lived in Kobe and commuted to work; I am not sure
whether they worked in Osaka or in Wakayama.

Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

I suspect product is either in the US or on the boat making its way to the
US and other world areas. March for many Japanese companies is the end of
their fiscal year.
Parts, well if the US organizations just got to have them they may use air
freight, but that runs up the cost.

Most of Icom was made in the Osaka, Japan area. Adam was over there and
toured a few of Icom's factories he may have a better feel for the actual
locations..
I don't know how close they are together nor have heard of any damage but I
am not in contact with Icom's employees much any more unless they take me to
a show to help..
The Osaka earthquake did do some damage and I seem to remember Icom lost
3 employees in that quake.
