All; There is a vast lack of knowledge out there about the power plugs used on many radios. Just because they look the same, does not mean they are the same. The Japanese metric pins and plugs that Icom uses are rated higher in current than the "molex" style pins that many third party vendor look alike plugs .There was an article in QST magazine several months ago that covered this in detail and by brand names. Unless you actually buy the Icom pins from Icom parts, or a hobby shop carrying the Japanese pins and plugs, you may be using the lower rated part.

I had a 756 Pro power cable go bad on me about a month ago. The pins
that plugged into the back of the radio had lost their spring, no
contact. Cut it off and put another plug on it, all OK.
