First I've enjoyed the sunspot cycle low. I haven't even missed the
20-15 and 10 meter bands as 40 has been like 20 used to be. ZL's and
VK's in the evening switching to Europe and Africa around 3 to 5 AM
local or well into the daylight hours zulu time. Particularly with 40
the Icom NR system has worked very well moving into spring and summer.
Simple antennas for great signals.
But as the sunspot cycle warms up and it appears to be doing remarkably
well at doing so with more and more openings moving farther and farther
North. Stateside many were able to take advantage of the six meter band
no on almost all Icom HF rig. Contest week end on six was like a zoo
state side. I've recently heard Europe and Africa on six. Last week I
listened to an XE working New England stations for several hours.
Again, I find the selectivity of the old 756 Pro to do quite well on the
crowded conditions of a major band opening on six.
I've added a high end rig in the shop (from another manufacturer), but
plan on upgrading the 756 Pro to either a 7600 or 7800. I'm set up for
SO2R with a six pack at the base of the big tower.

There are major changes in the stations and antennas under way.
