Yes, the DK site is GREAT. I subscribed long ago.
I have a 706MKIIg that I purchased new in Tokyo a couple of years ago. I didn't realize (until on the flight home), it was the "E" Model. Although I have done some 'diode' mods, it still will NOT transmit on the top end of 2M. It now receives the whole band, just won't xmit on the top 2 MHz.
No big deal, since 2M FM is pretty well dead now days and I have a slew of 2M FM radios any way.

I bought it for it's SSB and CW performance, anyway.
As I have said before, the receiver on the g is so good on 6 and 2M, I sold my mint 575H.... ha ha
Used to run the g on 6M into a pair of 3-500Zs working MS. Fantastic radio.
By the way, I still own 26 Icoms..... ha ha
