Hi Dick,
Yes, so far I've received some very interesting opinions & comments both
"pro" and "con" the early version of the 751A...
Summarized below, however, is probably the best actual FACTUAL summary of
the differences between the two models that I've seen to date, specifically:
+ + + + + + + + + +
"1) The Main board was the biggest difference between the 751 and the 751A.
The seperate FM board on the 751 was incoropated in the main board of the
751A.
2) The intermediate frequencies were changed in the last IF stage from
350khz in the 751 to back to 9.011 Mhz. in the 751A this improved the
passband and notch features.
Other nice features were added to the 751A to make it a truelly fine cw rig
the FL-32A filter was standard and the built in keyer was added to the
IC-751A not the Curtis Iambic A but it was a Microprocessor based Iambic B
keyer in my opinion a much nicer keyer than the addon keyer for the 740, 745
and 735 which was a Curtis Iambic A chip.
The 751A rates as one of the best receivers ever used on 160M (according to
W8xx)..."
