[ICOM] S Meter on Pro III

Hi Tom,
In my OPINION, don't TRUST either..

There are a lot of RELATIVE aspects of receivers, especially S Meter readings.
There are no published specs.

BTW, Using a step attenuator and signal source,
I have "Ops Checked" my Pro-III  S-Meter, Attenuators and Pre-amps several times.

Each S-Unit from S9 down to S-5 is 3 dB. Not the traditional 6 dB.
The internal attenuators agree with the 3 dB per S-Unit response.
The Pre-amp gains also agree with the standard step attenuator.

I enjoy my Pro-III especially the RX..

On my IC-756 Pro III the analog S meter and S meter on the multi function
meter do not agree on the digital modes. The analog always reads a littler
higher than the other.

Which meter should I trust if either?
