Probably the VCO cap in the VCO that covers the 10/12 meter band. Common
issue. Dave

Subject: [ICOM] IC-745 10 & 12 meter Distortion issue

Greetings!

Found out the 'hard way' about this issue...couldn't do the 10 Meter
contest this weekend! Have had this 745 about 3 yrs, never really used it
beyond 20m. From cold start RX audio becomes TOTALLY unreadable after on
about 5 min. Sounds like RF on audio across band! 12 meters same, but no
other bands.

Saw a post on eHam site from 2001 that describes exact same 'illness', but
never found any replies. I sure hope I didn't end-up with THAT guys 745.
Got mine on eBay from the usual "estate sale" kinda seller. No real info
beyond data sheet re-print and general info.

So, anybody hear of this one? are we talking trimmer caps again?

Thanks,

Milt Taylor
