Hello,
   You don't give much info.   On 120 vac PS, or mobile installation?
Remote head or head on radio?
    First thing I'd check is all the connections, including fuse
holders.   The 706 is very touchy below 12 volts, whatever the
installation.   I had one dropping in and out, I'd used a vehicle
chassis ground, and it was loosing chassis ground back to the battery
as I drove.   Wasn't a very old pickup, but it sure was made very
poor, had to run a ground wire all the way to the battery also.   Last
problem I had was the fuse connection at the battery, screw had come
loose.   Seen the inline fuses do this.   Have also seen the remote
cable at the head get corroded, had to take a pencil eraser and clean
the contacts, then it was happy again.
