Jim,
You stated in an earlier message that the TX light came on and back off.
It may not be related, but make sure your VOX is off and the anti-VOX set to
maximum.
This could also be an indication of possible very high SWR and the radio is
self protecting. Perhaps a bad connection or relay contact in the autotuner
circuit somewhere. There could be a problem in the SWR bridge that drives
the autotuner control circuits.
I'm not familiar with the mechanical arraignment of the auto tuner, but I
wonder if its possible to disconnect and bypass it physically.
