Randy, Al. Yep that's it! If you go Icom's "Knowledge base", Item # 5BAH296982, you will read that the part is called RL513. P/N LY2-0-DC12.
It is located on the "Tuner Unit". I have the Service Manual.......
I have been told that this relay was used in a lot of radios. I believe Icom still stocks them. There are ways to prevent this failure from re-occurring by placing a low voltage DC on the contacts, but it's a straight forward fix to just clean the contacts. I can't tell you how many times I "THOUGHT" I had 'fixed' the problem, only to have it come back again. Cycling the "ATT / Pre" switch will activate the relay and it will be fine for a VERY short time. ha ha
The relay has a plastic cover which is easy to remove. Cleaning the contacts has fixed it for over a year. The only 'downside' is all the connectors you have to wade through to get to it!
fun!!!

Ron, Al, which relay are you referencing,? the one on the top of the autotuner
oard ( I think mine are green/white) or the one on the small board next to the
o-239 out (I think it's white )?
and confirming that when it's active , this is an annoying little pest of an
ntermittent problem, and seems like the weight of a pet flea jumping on the rig
akes it go away.. unbelievable when it occurs..
I found the relay number with stock listed at odysseyelectronics.net but I
annot load the order page on my "superb" dial-up.

Al, these relays are a commom problem. My 761 developed the intermittant issue
ast year. Icom tech says to replace it. I took it apart and used a small strip
f business card with DeOxit 5 on it. It has worked perfectly for over a
ear.....
have never seen a relay SO sensitive to "lightly" tapping the radio, to have
t kick in on out.

t sounds as if the relay in my vintage '761 has given up the ghost after
years. While it occasionally will work, much of the time it doesn't
em to want to engage properly. I haven't had a chance to take it apart
d do any measurements but my service manual says the relay is a VS12TBN-E
d I've been having problems finding it on the net.
ny suggestions?
