[ICOM] Shipping rigs

Hi Guys,

My test-equipment dealer in Toronto uses strips of cut-up mattress foam
(from non-smokers!) form-fitted to the item to b shipped. The instrument is
wrapped in anti-static plastic sheeting, and laid on a block of the foam
material covering the bottom inside of the carton. Then, strips of the foam
are pushed in on all 4 sides to form-fit the piece of equipment. Finally, a
block of foam of the same dimensions as the lower block is laid on top. When
the carton is closed, it compresses the foam around the instrument.

I have received heavy items such as an HP spectrum analyser and signal
generator without a problem. They were shipped either by FedEx or by Canada
Post.

Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

Hello to the Group,
Lloyd may remember this similiar discussion from the Glowbug group several
years back. Someone suggested using rolled up blue jean material between
the inner and outer boxes with peanuts or something similiar between the
rolls. I've had tried that and it works really good, especially if you get
the jean material rolled tightly.
