[ICOM] Used ham gear

Keep in mind, too, the exchange rates. Back in 2003 and '04, the yen was
depressed, and IC-718s were priced under $500 NEW in ads in QST. Now,
they're closer to $600, and have been as high as $700.
When I was "shopping" for my first HF rig, people were listing used 718s on
QRZ for $550, and complaining when people told them they were overpriced -
with comments like "I bought it 1 year ago and paid $650 plus shipping for
it!" - until they were sent a current ad for new ones at $499. Today,
someone who bought new at 499 might sell a mint one for more than they paid
for it.
And nothing has changed except the exchange rate between the yen and the
dollar.
73,
Jay

Really, I don't think such lists are worth anything.
The value of the rig is going to change with its condition, options, etc.,
but also market conditions.
I remember a list some years ago, and that was during better times.
That list now isn't likely to reflect the reality of what people can pay.
Also, there is more used gear out there than ever before, and that can't
help but depress prices.
Lastly, is it worth it to your friend to hold out for $1000 for an "x", when
someone is offering say, $800?
If you posted the items here you'd likely get a range for the items, which
is probably better than a price guide.
My thoughts,
