Herman, Jack and Frank,
Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions. The antenna and coax are a good
place to start, and I'll confess the coax is quite old and could be the
culprit. I also have to confess I've never heard of power amp oscillation so
if that's the problem, I'm going to have to ship it off to Icom.
In addition to the Icom's internal SWR meter, I also have an external SWR
meter, and they both jump all the way to the right. As one of you said, it
could be the transmitter jumping off frequency. Or it could be the antenna.
I'll try out your suggestions and will file a report here later.
