Hi Mike,

The IC-7600 has a USB bridge and a USB audio codec. The bridge converts CI-V
to USB directly, and the codec converts analogue baseband to PCM which
appears at the USB port. Both conversions are bi-directional. The USB port
eliminates the need for separate CI-V, ACC1 Pin 4 (baseband in) and ACC1 Pin
5 (baseband out) connections. No RS-232 connection is required - simply
install the Icom USB driver in your computer and connect the USB cable
between the computer and the radio.

The driver is downloadable here:

Cheers for now, 73,

Did ICOM put a USB/Serial converter inside the radio for the rear USB
connector?
What does the computer see, a serial port?
Does this do away with the need for a CI-V (or clone) interface?

I downloaded the manual, but it wasn't clear to me about this.

73,
Mike NF4L
