Hi,
Go and check the voltage drop in TX across both fuse holders. I have had up to 2v drop across the fuses. I replaced mine with blade fuses and never looked back. 706's are very voltage intolerant. Got to be 12 - 13.8v, 11v no good....
Cheers,
Simon

Subject: [ICOM] IC 706mk2G Drop out
Hi All, I have an IC 706mk11 G that intermittently drops out (For want
of a better description). When it happens I can hear the small internal
relay associated with the DC switching 'tripping' in and out quite rapidly.
It has happened on both 40 & 80m to my knowledge and I also have tried 2
other power supplies.
Turning the power off/on will sometimes restore normal operation while
at other times you can only hear the relay tripping on and off. Usually
leaving the radio switched off for about an hour or so will bring it
back to normal operation but it will do break down again.
On the few occasions I have witnessed this problem it has happened while
the radio is receiving.
Has anybody seen this problem before or can offer a cause/cure?
Cheers
Wayne
