[ICOM] IC 706mk2G Drop out

Hello,
The 706MK2 is very sensitive to voltage. It wants 12.0 volts or
more! 11.9 will cause drop-out and other failures. Check all your
connections, you may even have to drop a cover on the 706, and monitor
voltage under load. You'll need a DVM. Connections get old, start
getting voltage drop downs. Suspect any junction of any kind, even
into the radio, the plug on the back of the radio, and disconnect
plugs you may have in the line. I've fought the problem a couple
times, once in a mobile situation. I was using the car frame for
ground, it was going bad and causing voltage drop outs, causing the
radio to shut down while I drove down the road. Gave me fits for a
little while till I ran a ground wire directly to the car battery
negative terminal. It was really strange.
73's de Stephen
