RE: 6 Pin Power Plugs...Last posts cover the subject well...
The pins look like Molex pins...but are not.
The Male pins on an Icom measure in at 0.077" diameter,
and the Molex are either 0.062" or 0.093" in diameter
I contacted Molex Engineering and they replied that they
do not make a pin at 0.077"...closest match was a special
@ 0.084"...P/N 02082004
If the Female pins in the 6 pin connector have been
"stressed/expanded" the connector is damaged and the
pins must be replaced.
Thus, get the pins directly from Icom.
As an alternate contact Powerwerx.com...they can provide
assemblies that use pins brought from Icom (and Yaesu).
They have a short pigtail adapter assembly, which is a 6 pin
Female to a two pin Powerwerx...from there you can purchase
a mating 2 pin connector to attach to your power source....Or,
you can purchase the power plug, pins, and shrink tube cover
for $6.95...SKU HF-6...and make/repair your own connector
The K1CRA Radio Store (on epay) offers cable assemblies with
heavy gage cable (12 GA)...No experience
Also, check www.radioproshop.com for Power cords...plus just
the connector, 4 pins, and boot for $1.88...SKU KW2000A. Note
I have no experience with this source
One final thought...you can solder in the wires to the pins but
the connection has to be small. I suggest purchasing the Molex
Crimp tool...and Pin release push-plunger tool.
Please correct my info if necessary...help=appreciated
