[ICOM] IC-735 VCO Cap Replacement - What are the symptoms?

I have two 735's, one I purchased new in 1987 which is used at home but has also seen use as a mobile, and a second on the boat. That one is of unknown heritage. It has just started distorting on transmit. I'm wondering if that is a trim cap problem.
Thanks,
Al K5TAN

Please enlighten us.
I have owned an IC-735 since 1986 and have never had a problem with the VCO
Caps.
Also, I have never seen any reports to that effect.

I drive a Ford truck. I have never had a flat tire. Therefore Ford trucks never have a flat tire.
Some fourteen years ago, there was a run of 735's that had issues with trim caps. Icom knew it.
The Icom newsletters out of Florida knew it.
One phone call to Icom, advising them you would not hurt the radio or yourself with sharp tools, some nice fellow sent me a bag of eight, at no cost. I used two to fix the immediate problem.
