Thanks Adam.. the PW-1 is and has been running great for many years... I
just tried to set up a dedicated 6M station with a Alpha 8406 and the
PROIII... Now I can never miss an opening on six..hi hi thank much and take
care sir...73

Hi Larry,
The ALC should always be connected and calibrated when driving a solid-state
amplifier such as the PW1 (the ALC is connected automatically when the PW1
is connected to an Icom exciter.) The reason for this is that the ALC loop
is part of the amplifier's protection subsystem.

For proper operation the exciter transceiver should have its power output
set so as not to over drive the amplifier input. Today's modern
transceivers have very good power output limiting. As a rule ALC is not
needed if the transceiver is less than 15 years old
