Many thanks for the replies... now I do have a workshop Manual for the IC761
and I have previously replaced the trimmers with ceramic ones.
My first thought was that I had disturbed something when moving the
power supply
in and out while repairing, but I cannot see any plugs or wires disturbed.
It seems strange that the trimmers  might go out of tune when they were
working perfectly
before the power supply problem.
It is the same on all bands that I have tried as well, so not limited to
just the one frequency range
which I guess makes the problem more difficult rather than less  lol.
But it does sound like a PLL problem, however I wasnt sure if the PLL
oscillators were involved in
running the digital read out as well, as that seems to be working perfectly.
