What I've been doing for years is to put up a dipole
about 150' or so long, and feed it with open wire or
ladder line. Back at the shack I put a 1:1 Balun a few
inches from the AH-2 or 4. I work the HF bands
and AF MARS. If there is an impedance problem,
just snip a foot or so, (or add a foot or so), from/to the
transmission line. Easier, just put a DPDT switch
in the line. My other HF antenna is a 65' horizontal about
12' off the ground in my back yard. Ground is the pipe
in my well that goes down 60'. The AH-4 is located
right at the well head. There is a clone for the AH-2
controller out there. ICOM ran out of parts years ago.
I have two broken ones here. Anybody have chips?
