This morning after a short RTTY contact on 17 meters using 50 watts PEP my
IC-746 Pro suffered the dreaded transmit failure. It's a pretty old rig
(serial number 01162) so I thought I might be safe from the failure seeing
that the rig survived so many years without it. The previous owner told me
that the IC151 had been heat sinked and I guess I will find out if it
actually has been when I open the rig.

Earlier this year I had the back light failure and fixed it myself. I'm not
sure if I can fix this failure seeing that the IC is so small but I will
find out soon enough. Seems like I've seen posts about Icom fixing the IC
failure for free minus shipping charges?! I'm also wondering what non Icom
techs fix this failure?!

Any comments would be much appreciated.
