[ICOM] 60 Mtr Operation with ICOM 746

Most internal antenna tuners only have a matching capability of about  3:1. That imeans they are specifieded to match about 15 to 150 ohms  mismatch only. it the impedance is higher or lower than these values, it may not be able to match. When you stated that your antenna did not function, did you mean it functioned (operated) but could not find a match?

If you'll check the W0QE link that Mike, KK2DOG provided

you'll see that I have already checked operation of the

original IC-746 on 60m.  I have NOT been able to get the

internal tuner to function on my antenna (450 Ohm Ladder

Line-fed, 120' center-fed dipole).  I am able to get that

antenna to tune satisfactorily with an LDG AT-200 Pro

autotuner IF I start with minimum power!
