[ICOM] QST - 7600

I just got home from a radio club meeting. The main program for the night
was testing of radios and the criteria used. Seems at least to me from what
I heard from a guy who gets paid to write columns for different magazines,
that the testing is done in a way that makes all radios look pretty good for
the manufacturers. I didn't understand all that I heard but it seems we
should be further along in radio specs then we are. Are audio amps being
specked at 2.5 watts per %10 percent distortion factor? Who the heck could
listen to that, it's a meaningless spec to the average ham. So you have a
super hot radio that you can't stand to listen to during a contest due to
audio fatigue?
