Hello all,

I have some questions regarding the ACC ports (ACC1 8-pin DIN/ ACC2 7-pin
DIN) on the 746 (non-Pro). What is the difference between HSEND (on ACC1 pin
3 & ACC2 pin 3) & VSEND on ACC2 pin 6? Am I correct in assuming the "H" is
for HF and the "V" is for VHF? Is the BAND on ACC2 pin 4 used for a specific
voltage to indicate to external equipment such as an auto-tuner what band is
currently in operation?

I would like to operate digi modes on HF, and packet & digi modes (via
soundcard) on 2M. My soundcard interface is the microHam microKeyer. Using
the supplied DB37 cable that has connections to the front panel microphone
jack and ACC1, in my estimation does not provide for 2M digi/packet
operation. (HF is operational) If I am not mistaken that would entail the
use of the VSEND on ACC2 pin 6. After reading the manual it shows that
certain pins are common on both ACC ports. These are:
ACC1            ACC2
#2 GND          #2 GND
#3 HSEND        #3 HSEND
#7 13.8V        #7 13.8V
#8 ALC          #5 ALC

So it seems to me, that to transmit on 2M, I would have to bring the VSEND
pin 6 on ACC2 to ground. Since the HSEND goes to ground when transmitting on
both ACC ports, can I use a short jumper wire on ACC2 between pin 3 HSEND,
and pin 6 VSEND to cause VSEND to go to ground?

Or would it be recommended to make a Y-adapter cable that would keep the
pins that are in common in parallel, and in addition on the ACC2 portion,
put the HSEND and VSEND in parallel?

As best I can tell, the audio to/from the rig and computer via the soundcard
interface is sent via MOD pin 4 and AF pin 5 on ACC1. Would the above set up
pass the audio correctly? Would this cause any unwanted operation from the
VSEND line when operating on HF?

I am hoping that I can simply use a jumper wire on ACC2. If at all possible
I would like to avoid disconnecting/reconnecting connectors frequently.
Maybe I'm hoping to do too much with equipment not designed to do as much.
(Any day I'll have my perpetual energy tank circuit completed. Then I'll
REALLY have an oscillator. Bridge to buy anyone???... anyone?? How 'bout
some swampland? ;-)

Also, what is HSEND & MSEND for on the 706MK2G?
