For the past four years I have always removed the BP-194 case to 
charge the NICAD batteries. I decided to try the side jack in the 
radio to do the charging per the manual. It does nothing. I tried many 
power sources within the DCV range in the specs. NOTHING HAPPENS!

I put 9.6vdc to the jack with the pack out and read 8.9vdc on the 
contact pins, . Something is getting in there. It cannot be the pack 
case because I charge it externally using the contacts on the pack.

Anybody with any ideas why the batteries will not charge from the 
jack?
